Oh hey! It’s AJ! I know what your thinking, “Did you quit blogging for good?” Did you drop off the face of the planet? Did you get abducted by aliens? Did Niall Horan finally ask you to marry him, and you eloped and moved away? Dang girl where have you been?”
To answer the first 4 questions: No. No. No. And, sadly, no.
To answer the last question: The end of sophomore year has been A LOT. With that being said, I thought this would be a good time to recap what happened during my sophomore year at OU and tell you about what’s to come for the blog!
To be honest, the fall semester was not the best. Going from living in the same hall with all my friends in the dorms and seeing them every day, to living alone was pretty tough. I honestly started to consider (for the second time) transferring closer to home. I was also struggling after changing my major to business from communication. (Business requires math, and I’m not a math girl). And I was honestly lonely and a little bored with college.
But, mid-September is when I decided to use my free time (when I wasn’t at tutoring and freaking out over pre-calc) to start this blog! It was something I’ve wanted to do for so long, and I’m glad I took the time to do the research, find a mentor (hi Blair), and start! I spent all of the fall months looking at articles about blogging, listening to podcasts about becoming an influencer, and thinking of a blog name (That took FOR-EV-ER). September was also when I took my trip to Disney World with my family (pic below), and when I really became set on doing the Disney College Program.
In October, I got to go to the OU vs. Texas football game (pic below) for the first time (It’s a huge deal, Trust me). I also had my first Skype meeting with Blair! and began to accept the fact that friends grow apart and that’s ok!
In November, I got bed bugs in my apartment – I think. I never actually saw them. Just had bites that resembled those of bed bugs. Gross. I know. And In December, I found out I got a C in pre-calc (I BOMBED the final), changed my major back to communications, and took a three-week class during Christmas Break (It wasn’t that bad; I’d do it again if I had to).
Spring Semester was honestly a complete BLUR. So many great blessings came my way, and it was a little overwhelming, to say the least. It was a total juxtaposition to the last spring when I felt like I was going through a valley.
In January, I made a mood board with one of my best friends from home before I went back to school, and it amazing to see how many things have come to fruition. I also finally got to put on the event I helped plan for an organization I’m involved in on campus. It was so cool to see it come to life! At one of these events, I connected with someone from my current church and started going to bible study! (read the whole story here). I also started playing the piano (It’s really hard) through a class I was taking at school, and I love it!
In February, I started my blogger mentorship program with Blair and had my first Skype meeting! February is also when I applied for the Disney College program (on a whim), and had my phone interview. At the time, I was also vlogging, but I never ended up editing any footage 😅.
In March, I turned 20 and got baptized on my birthday weekend! (pic below!) On the same week of my birthday, I also found out I got into the Disney College Program, and that I (once again) get to serve as a Small Group Leader at my universities orientation camp this summer! On March 29th is when I launched this blog!
April went by so fast! I was finally getting into the swing of things with the blog and became more active on Instagram. April is also when my piano class (and my other classes) started to get harder, and I was learning to balance blogging and school. I also found the house I’m going to live in (hopefully) for the rest of college!
Then, in May, final projects, essays, and eventually, final exams happened, and I was so focused on that I just had no time to devote the blog. (Sorry y’all). I also decided to stay in Norman for the summer and found a job on campus! I’m currently home in Texas but will move back to Oklahoma in a few weeks!
What’s to Come?
So, now it’s officially summer, and I am SO EXCITED about what’s coming to the blog! I have a lot of fun content planned for the summer, and I can’t wait for y’all to experience Just Live: Summer 2019 (oooh so official!).
