Bawling my eyes out in my bedroom, in 2016, I had no hope for the future. The summer before my senior year of high school, I was confused about life and terrified of college. Anxiety was getting the best of me, and I couldn’t see a way out. Realizing that was no way to live I started my journey to finding sunshine through 4 main things….
MY JOURNEY OUT
The first was faith. Even though I had grown up in the church, I had never really made my faith my own until the summer I broke down. Now looking back, I realize that is one of the best summers ever because it brought me closer to the Lord. (read my testimony here!).
The second was fitness. When I started consistently working out my senior year of high school, I had no idea the change it would have on my mental health. I started my fitness journey by watching youtube video workouts and walking around my neighborhood. Now, I’m am more comfortable in the gym, and exercising for my health instead of my looks.
The third was in fashion. I have always been interested in style and clothes. But, it wasn’t until I stopped caring what people thought of my outfits, that I was happy with my wardrobe. Buying and wearing the clothes I wanted instead of what was trendy helped me to get out of my rut.
Lastly, was fun. I focused more on doing more things that brought me joy, and less on doing the things everyone else was interested in. As a creative, I got into watercolor painting, photography, and interior design (I was a weird high schooler).
